Five trends to instantly update your wardrobe

The best way to usher in a new fashion season is to use feminine clothing  and accessories   that are modern and extremely easy to wear.

This season, fashion differs radically from years past. For starters, the palette is softer.

The colors are softer with very natural embellishments, said Laura McDowell, T.J. Maxx Fashion Spokesperson.

White is clearly a favorite, followed by neutrals. When mixed with colors, the look is softer and very contemporary. Try a navy with complementary colors (for the ever popular nautical look), yellow, chocolate brown and oats. Black and white graphic combos look surprisingly cool.

Perhaps the most important choices are spring trousers: they range from wide and short gaucho to shorts / skimmers. Also look for fine capri, long, soft pants and high waisted trousers. Women's Blouses Are the Perfect Accompaniment Choose a Victorian-style ruffle-trimmed blouse or the classic ever-trendy button. The little  black dress   has been replaced by the little white dress, with light and feminine details. The jackets are back. Look for fitted and fitted jackets, as well as military-inspired styles with a high collar. Today's skirts are longer, feminine tulip shapes, bubble skirts and multi-level versions.

There is no need to carry a bag or even a briefcase this season. Handbags are big enough to hold anything. Look for cross handles and extra wide binders.

Oversized is good, but consider the shape and size of your body, McDowell advises.

The belts are also becoming wider. The shoes are bulky with high heels, platform, sneakers, peep toes and wedges. The vibrant jewelery of turquoise, coral and amber adds a good dose of color; Multi-row necklaces - the longest is best - are both bold and sophisticated. Here are five simple ways to update your wardrobe:

1. Something white

2. a sweet romantic skirt

3. At least one pair of gaucho short pants, capris or skimmers

4. A striped shirt with nautical accents, a macramé belt or wedge sneakers
