The connections for the water heater become easy

Hooking up a water heater is one of the most common home repair jobs. However, if you do not know what you are doing or if you do not know the first thing about hot water heaters, then you could be in hot water ... literally. But installing a water heater can be a pretty easy thing to learn. You just need to make sure you read all the instructions before you start so you do not get lost before you start. The last thing you want to do is realize that you can not do this and then get stuck without hot water!

The first thing to do is the most obvious. You must disconnect and remove your old water heater. It's easy enough. Just be careful. Remember that it is still full of hot water. So, first turn off your gas or electricity connected to this water heater. You will then need to drain the water from the old unit. There should be a drain valve located on it. On a gas heater, separate the vent pipe from the draft hood. The hood should come off after removing the sheet metal screw holding it. After confirming that the pilot is off, unplug the gas line from the heater and close the cap.

Then remove the water heater from the water pipes. Be careful when doing this because the pipes can still contain hot water. This water is hot enough to burn you if you're not careful. You may need pipe wrenches to remove some, but there should not be many connections, so this step should not take too much time or effort. You can now take out the old water heater and throw it away. Many local and national laws impose certain restrictions on their elimination. Consult local authorities for disposal requirements.

Now that the old unit is out, it's time  to install   the new one. Move your new water heater into his new home using a cart. You do not want to walk or drag it. There are delicate parts inside that can be damaged if they are shaken or subjected to too much shock. Place your new heater so that the pipes reach it easily. If you use gas, you want to be particularly careful that the gas pipe can reach easily to avoid potentially dangerous gas leaks.

Then connect the hot and cold water. This is usually a simple process of connecting the new water heater to the same connections as the old water heater. Then you connect the third pipe to the main water pipe that distributes the water to the rest of the house. Refer to the user manual if there are no connections or if you do not know which pipe goes where. This is the most common mistake made when installing a water heater. If you open the water and your cold water gets hot and your hot water never heats up, go and change the pipes.

Then you must locate the relief valve on your newly connected water heater. The temperature and pressure relief valve is a very important part of your hot water system. The decompression system automatically releases excess heat and pressure so your water heater does not explode. This is a very important and valuable safety feature that is standard on all water heaters.

The last step in connecting your new water heater is to connect it to the mains. You must connect it to the gas line or electricity to heat the water. Refer to the instruction manual for instructions.
