Seven other tips to keep your skin hydrated

Even if you have a greasy complexion, the dry, cold air can give a dull, flaky look. With a little advanced preparation, you can keep your skin hydrated and healthy this winter.

# 1. Drink lots of fluids

Although water is the best thing to drink, it is not necessary to drink eight glasses a day to stay hydrated. However, you must make sure you drink enough during the day to never be thirsty. Once you are thirsty, your body starts to suffer from dehydration. One trick is to carry a bottle of water with you at all times. Add a slice of lemon or lime for a refreshing taste.

# 2. Reduce your alcohol and caffeine intake

Alcohol and drinks containing caffeine (yes, that means coffee!) Dehydrate. They pull moisture from your body. Not good if you try to stay hydrated. Now, that does not mean you can not have a cup of coffee in the morning and a glass of wine at night. Just be sure to match these drinks to a glass of water to counteract their effects.

# 3. Check your medications

Some medications, including topical medications, can dry out your skin. Take a look at your over-the-counter skin cleansing products. Do they contain salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide or retinols? If this is the case, they can cause dryness and irritation. If you use these products often, try to reduce a little. For example, if you clean your face with salicylic acid morning and night, try it only in the morning.

# 4. Moisturize twice a day

This should be self-evident, but it is essential to moisturize your skin twice a day. Remember to use two different moisturizers. Your moisturizer at night can be heavier.

# 5. Wear sunscreen every day, even in cloudy weather

Sunscreen should be part of your morning routine. One way to make sure you wear it every day is to combine your sunscreen with your moisturizer. It must have a sun protection factor (SPF) greater than or equal to 30 and protect against UVA and UVB rays.

# 6. Fresh fruits and vegetables

There is really nothing better for your skin than a healthy diet. Any healthy diet starts with an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables. Try to get at least one serving of vegetables at every meal. Try to consume 5 to 7 servings a day. And leafy greens should be part of the day.

#seven. Do not exfoliate

When people have dry skin, they are tempted to exfoliate. Of course, this removes dry skin, but it can also cause irritation. The irritation causes cracks and cracks. Evaluate how often you exfoliate. If you exfoliate more than once a week, consider reducing.
