Acne and its treatment

Acne is a threat. However, it is not something that can not be addressed. There are tons of acne skin care products around. We can classify skin care products against acne in 3 main categories -

  • General or preventive anti-acne skin care products

  • Specialized products for skin care against acne over-the-counter

  • Skin care products against prescription acne.

General skin care products against acne are those that are used as a measure of acne prevention. These include cleansers, makeup removers and similar products that help prevent acne. In the true sense of the term, these acne skin care products are just the ones that should be part of your daily routine anyway. However, some of them are more oriented to act as a skin care product against acne. These acne skin care products work against the causes of acne, for example limiting the production of sebum / oil and preventing clogging of pores in the skin. Basically, these skin care products against acne prevent the oil from remaining trapped in the pores and thus impede the growth of acne-causing bacteria. Skin care products generally against acne also include exfoliating products such as peels. These work to eliminate dead skin cells, reducing the possibility of clogging of pores and bacteria development.

Next, there are specialty products for acne skin care that are available without a prescription, that is, without the need for a prescription. These include products such as evaporating creams that extract excess oil from the skin. Most of these acne skin care products are based on benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, two enemies of the bacteria (and therefore acne). You must start with a product containing less benzoyl peroxide (eg 5%) and see how your skin reacts. Alpha-hydroxy-acid moisturizers are also popular as acne skin care products. You may need to try a few before focusing on the acne skin care product that is effective for you. If nothing seems to work, you should contact a dermatologist.

Skin care products against acne are those prescribed by a dermatologist. This may include ointments that can be applied to the affected area, oral antibiotics, or other topical treatment. The dermatologist might also suggest a minor surgical procedure to remove pustule contents. However, never try to squeeze it or do it yourself, this could lead to permanent skin damage. Your doctor may also prescribe hormone therapy (because hormonal changes can also cause acne). Such acne skin care products are known to be very effective in some cases.

So with all these skin care products against acne, fighting acne is not so difficult.
