Nike Air Force One (the shoe)

The Air Force 1 shoe is a product of Nike, Inc., released in 1982. The Air Force 1 was the first Nike basketball shoe to use Nike Air technology. The name refers to Air Force One, the plane that carries the President of the United States. The shoe was popular in the early 1980s, then in the late 1990s and early 2000s. These shoes are one of the most popular and sought after items in cities and suburbs. Because of their popularity, Air Force 1 is customized and sold online, on websites such as www.fashionfreakers.com. The customizers change the colors of the different parts of the shoe such as the swoosh, the heel, the toe and the bottom on request. The shoes are also made with different colors for special occasions such as the Olympic Games and are published in colors commemorating areas such as Puerto Rico, New York, Detroit D-Town and the West Indies. Some members of the music industry such as Roc-A-Fella Records and some athletes such as Lebron James have their own special versions designed by Nike. There is also an active NBA player who plays daily with them - Rasheed Wallace, who has played his entire career in the High Tops of AF1. Sheed in his AF1`s rapper Nelly made a song called Air Force Ones

In the hip hop subculture, the Air Force 1 shoe is a reflection of the individual. Some like white on white, others go so far as to dye the inside of the shoe to make it unique. Originally, the shoe featured a low top and a high top, the latter having a removable strap. Nike continues to produce these two versions of the Air Force 1 and in 1994, they added a Mid Top to the range with a non-removable strap. The shoe sometimes featured smaller rubber jewel rubber shoes and super jewel metal plastic ski boots.
