Who to rent for your kitchen remodel

You have finally decided to engage in this remodeling of the kitchen long delayed. As you stand in the middle of your current kitchen and are probing, you think you do not know how to begin a remodel of the kitchen. It's a great time to call on professionals.

Basically, there are two phases of kitchen renovations that you can call for help with design and planning and the actual construction phase. Many  home improvement   companies will take care of both aspects of your kitchen renovation, with in-house designers and a list of qualified professionals such as plumbers, electricians, floor layers and cabinet makers. Or you can subcontract all services yourself, hiring a designer or decorator for the first phase and finding your own contractor for the final phase of kitchen remodeling. Some people prefer to work with only one company, but others prefer a hands-on approach and are not concerned with the paperwork or research required to hire many different workers.

Word of mouth is one of the best ways to find a designer. Ask around you. Ask about the friends and family whose renovation you've admired. The design of a  kitchen renovation   project is a delicate process, the designer must be aware of the customer's tastes as well as the way he usually uses the space. A good starting point is to identify, in general terms, the type of design you think you can enjoy. To start, browse magazines and detach photos you like, then look for a designer whose tastes match your ideas. If a designer specializes in contemporary spaces and you live in a historic house, it will not be suitable for the design of your kitchen. Another thing you can do is do some research on the internet. Many sites have lists of local designers with whom they work.

Once you've found a designer and decided on a  kitchen renovation   plan, it's time to hire a contractor. Ask your designer if she works with someone on a regular basis or if she can make a recommendation. Otherwise, searching the internet is a good place to start. Many websites maintain lists of  kitchen renovation   contractors. Be sure to check references and see an example of the work of your chosen contractor, if possible. Check the local Better Business Bureau site to make sure your contractor does not have to complain about it. One sure way to proceed is to go through a chain of  home improvement   stores. They work with a wide variety of entrepreneurs and can not afford to partner with inferior professionals. It's always a good idea to protect yourself, check references and ask for examples, no matter who you work with.
