Vertical axis wind turbine

There are two different types of wind turbines. Vertical and horizontal. Each fulfills its function and each of its advantages and disadvantages. You should choose the one that best suits your needs. They have one thing in common: they produce energy from winds. They simply do it in a different way. The vertical axis turbine has the main rotor shaft rotating vertically instead of horizontal. This direction can have its advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is that the gearbox can be placed in the bottom of the turbine, unlike horizontal turbines. All the weight is not at the top of the tower.

It does not need to be pointed in the direction of the wind. The disadvantage of vertical axis wind turbines is that there may be pulsating torques that may occur at each turn when the wind turbine rotates in the same direction as the wind. They produce a smaller amount of wind energy.

Different Types of Vertical axis wind turbines

Windmill with a rotating sail. This type of turbine is the newest on the market because it looks like a sail on a ship once it is operational. Sails can expand or contract with changing winds. There are three sails on it and the speed is managed by a magnetic counter that expands or contracts these vertical sails. He has a control unit that will help control the sails so that the damage is minimal. Sails can tear, but the frame is durable and will withstand storms.

The aerodynamic turbine consists of an aerodynamic base designed to capture the kinetic energy that passes from the artificial current to the center. It can use most of the air mass that passes by redirecting it to the upper turbines. It can react to wind, but also to rivers, streams, oceans or other open water systems.

Darrieus wind turbines are efficient but, because of their size and shape, they can generate cyclic stress on the tower, which can be used earlier. It has three blades that work well in stronger winds. They are supported by external structures that are connected from the ground.

Giromill is a type of meal that has three vertical blades. It starts automatically, so maintenance is low. These types of grinders have a low blade speed, but they can generate high performance and can channel energy at each turn of the blade.

Savonius wind turbines have two tanks used for wind turbine conversion. Some come in three spoons that make it autonomous. They look like long helicopter blades bent in one direction. This style and form must provide enough energy to be sufficient.

Windstar turbines have straight aluminum blades attached to each end of the rotating shaft. This wind turbine has more than one rotor and each has its own dual braking system with pneumatic disc brakes. They are designed for strong and powerful winds.
