Home automation equipment, learning is fun

The home automation system is a tool for controlling your home appliances and communication devices. For example, you have already bought your laptop, installed your backyard sprinkler system and subscribed to your pay-TV, but what equipment you will use to connect these elements.

You will need interfaces such as switches and remote controls to control various devices in your home. Different devices need different hubs for configuring connections. You will need multi-zone controls, video modulators, and distribution panels for audio distribution. You will need an interface card for your network and a router for each computer to configure the local network.

You must learn the basics by understanding every description of equipment used to make your home automation possible.

  • Wiring cabinet. It is a small closed room specially designed to keep scrambled cabling and allows easy access when needed. The best location for a wiring closet is the front space of your house, so external cabling (cables used on pay TV channels) can also be kept. All input devices are configured in a location, a hub. This location can become complicated because of different wiring.
  • Brewing panel. The brain of the hub that controls every cable in your house. For example, the X cable is connected to the Y speaker on stereo Z. The functions of the cables can be changed using the patch panel by unplugging one plug and connecting it to another. Be sure to clearly label the cables.
  • Connectors The connectors have different types depending on what the wiring requires. The points of sale also vary. Your speaker cables can also use multiple outlets and plugs. Take this into account when installing wall outlets and cables. As much as possible, it gives you great flexibility. Similarly, do not forget the installation of many power outlets.
  • Keyboards and touch screens. Touchscreen controls are the most expensive and intuitive types of interface, while keyboards provide a simpler way to communicate with your gadgets.
  • Smart switches. The simple and flexible ways to initiate control are through smart switch panels, which can also change dynamically. This advanced system is integrated with both entertainment and lights. It provides dim lighting options or increasing audio volumes. However, the switch used must be the same.
  • Remote controls. The universal remote control can operate TVs, air conditioners, blinds and lights. But this equipment is very expensive because of its multiple controls. A simpler controller is another good option because it performs different tasks and eliminates the use of separate controls.
  • Software. Home automation can work with the use of software installed on a PDA (personal digital assistant) or a PC (personal computer). Home checks can be done through a special secure web page. This means that your heating system and other appliances can be switched off wherever you are.
  • Impedance matching system. This corrects problems concerning the sound qualities (degradation impedance). Multiple speaker connections on a single amplifier are possible, but this reduces the overall power of the amplifier.
  • Multizone control systems. It works like patch panels in your hub systems. You can accept streams from different audio sources and send them to specified amplifiers located anywhere in your home.
  • Distribution panel. This can reverse video streams anywhere in your home. This component serves as a video hub for your network. A television signal that is transmitted on the distribution board can be sent to all televisions in the house. It is necessary to amplify the output because the split signals display lower results.
  • Modulator. It manages incoming traffic from different video-producing devices such as DVD players, VCRs, pay TV receivers and security cameras. The modulator selects the channelized input on your distribution panel. A multichannel distribution panel and modulators simultaneously send streams to different rooms from various devices.
  • Router. This is important if you are setting up a wireless or wired LAN (local area network). It allows you to access the Internet and a network from different places in your home. All computers, printers, modems, and associated devices connected to the router can communicate with each other.
  • Network interface cards. The network card connected to the routers also allows network communications in your home.
