Hardwood Floor Maintenance

In order to fully enjoy the benefits of a hardwood floor, you must apply the proper maintenance techniques. Since hardwood, whatever its strength, is organic, it can be subject to wear and decay if you do not take care of it. So, if you want this to last a long time, you must be diligent enough to maintain it with proper cleaning and waxing.

Hardwood floors are a bit expensive. And since it's an investment, it's not safe to make sure your money is optimized over the years. So, we are faced with the question. How do we take care of our hardwood floors? Consider the tips below.

Avoid too much exposure to the sun

If the room where your hardwood floor is located has a large window, protect it from the sun with curtains or blinds. Ultraviolet rays would have adverse effects on hardwood floors.

Do not drag your furniture

This particularly concerns large furniture. If you want to move your oak sofa to another location, use a cart or have people lift it. Never drag it on the ground as it may heal the finish or dig deep into the wood itself. Also, use felt contacts under furniture feet to prevent their weight from causing scratches and bumps on the floor.

Clean stains and stains immediately.

If your hardwood floor has a good finish intact, you will have nothing to worry about. But if it's been around for a while, it's possible that the finishes are already removed and allow the water to seep into the wood. When this happens, sanding and reconditioning the wet ground is a good idea. If this technique fails, you may need to replace this board with a new one.

Regularly sweep your hardwood floor

Use a broom with thin, popped bristles as they retain particles and dust more effectively from the creases and corners of your soil. Bristles that are too soft can only cause dust in the flooring and fill in cracks.
