Tools for carpentry career

If you want to pursue a career in carpentry, it is better to be prepared. You may have training, but you need tools of different shapes and sizes. Let's talk about some of them. Each carpenter needs a hammer. It is this tool with a wooden handle covered with metal that will allow you to hit an object as a nail.

Before cutting, you will need tape measure. When you know how much you need to cut and mark it with a pencil, you can easily use the next tool, the saw.

The saw is a cutting tool. Some can cut wood while others can cut steel. Its lightness compared to the electric saw avoids you many difficulties to work it manually.

There are things that a saw can not cut and for that you need a chisel. It is a sharp tool often used with a hammer or mallet to saw wood, metal or stone. Some handles and blades are made entirely of metal or wood.

The gouge is another cutting tool similar to the chisel. The only difference between the two lies in the fact that the edge of the blade is not flat but curved or bent. Like the chisel, different versions are available. If the angle of the plane of the blade is on the outer surface of the curve, it is called canned gouge. The opposite is called gouge in carrannerie.

Hammering and cutting is not the only thing you do as a carpenter. Sometimes you have to hang a shelf on the wall or assemble two pieces of wood. For this you will need your handy screwdriver. There are two types. One is flathead while the other is called Philips. These are also available in different sizes depending on the screws you will use.

But before screwing it, you will have to make some holes that can not be made without some drills. You do not drill a hole with your hand, so you attach it to an electric drill, which will make it easier.

You will also need a pile of screws and nails. These are cheap, so you have no trouble getting them in stores.

All of these tools must be kept in a steel toolbox so they can be easily transported whenever you need to work on the site. The things you will use most often should be placed in your carpenter's belt so that you do not have to move from one place to another simply because you have forgotten something in the toolbox.

There are other tools than those mentioned above. All of these items are sold separately and can be purchased from your local hardware store or online, so it's not that difficult to acquire.
