Three tips for building an ecological terrace

Building an ecological patio is a huge undertaking. From design to completion, the process involves many steps of assembling many different components and using building materials with which you may be unfamiliar.

Here are three tips to make the process easier.

do all your research in advance

Try to do as much research as possible. Look for the types of materials you want to use, your lighting, furniture, etc. at the same time.

If you do it as you go along, you will find that you will have to continually stop and look at things. The finished project will not be compatible either.

Instead, determine exactly what you want to do with your patio before you start. Determine where you intend to buy everything.

Do you plan to buy them locally at a hardware store with green supplies? Or do you prefer to order them online?

If you buy locally, can you find out which brands have these brands? If this is the case, look for these brands the type of reputation they have before making a purchase.

use wood or certified wood-plastic composites

There are mainly two choices of wood composite composite wood-wood eco-responsible.

Certified wood is a wood whose production has been approved by the Forest Stewardship Counsel (FSC), a world-renowned organization dedicated to forest preservation.

The FSC regulates the number of cuts that can be made in various parts of the world without deforestation. They ensure that new trees are planted and that the wood is cut in an environmentally sustainable manner.

Wood-plastic composites are both wood and plastic materials, usually made from at least 40% recycled materials.

Composites are extremely durable and can withstand rain, pests such as termites, mold and more. They are very affordable, come in many different shapes and sizes and in almost any color you can imagine.

find ecological components for everything

Just about anything that goes into building a terrace can appeal to the green industry.

For lighting, try going with solar lights. Not only do they save you energy, but they are also easier to configure. You do not need  to install   special wiring, just place the sunlamps in the sun to capture the current.

For furniture, you can buy ecological furniture made of FSC wood or 100% recycled plastic.

Even the chemicals used in the construction process can be green. You can use green paint and green putties to make almost all the green on your patio.
