Is it safe to drink bottled water left in a hot car?

Almost everyone has consumed bottled water. This drink is considered quite practical, especially because it is easy to carry when traveling. Not infrequently, you also leave bottled water in the car for a long time.

Actually there is no problem with bottled water. But what often becomes a problem is the bottle used. Bottles of mineral water generally use plastic materials containing chemicals.

The chemical used in plastic bottles is Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET). Besides PET, there are also plastic bottles that contain bisphenol A (BPA). Usually BPA-based plastic is harder than PET.

When you leave it in the car, the plastic bottle will experience a drastic increase in temperature and be exposed to ultraviolet light. Chemical compounds (PET / BPA) from plastic bottles will escape from the wall and mix with water in the bottle. This process can take place within one hour of leaving.

So, what is the danger of bottled water containing PET / BPA? Apparently, both ingredients can activate the hormone estrogen and damage the structure of breast cell DNA. If it occurs continuously, this can lead to breast cancer.

The levels of PET / BPA released and concentrations that can cause cancer as a result of this can not be ascertained. However, various world cancer institutions recommend avoiding bottled water in plastic bottles.

The fact above does not mean that you cannot drink bottled water at all. Try to drink it immediately after the seal is opened. Also avoid leaving it in the car.
